Maureen Inc.

So Maureen (and her husband Jake) have started a business! The website is here. The company is called RedBone Development (Redbone, like the dog. Because they have one of those dogs, named Fiona). They create websites for small businesses that are "easy to update, manage and grow along with their company."

I hope they get lots and lots of business and make lots of amazing websites! Which they will, because they are very talented.

Sarah quit/was fired and now work is terribly boring. I definitely saw it coming, she'd been talking about leaving for weeks, but now I have no one to have lunch with and I am lonely.

I've tried having lunch with Kristina, the only other coworker who is my age, but she makes me run lunch-errands with her (the bank, the gas station), and that is just not something I want to do during the 30 minutes I have for lunch. I can hardly stand to run my own errands, let alone another person's.

So I'm working on the lunch situation. Though as I've recently decided that I'm fat, I might try to stop eating lunch altogether. And when that inevitably results in me, ravenous at 2:30pm, raiding our work kitchen and eating four chocolate bars, then maybe I can start just packing a lunch and eating in my office.

I have started counting calories, actually. I guess that's how I know summer is coming-I start thinking about having to wear a bikini and I stop eating mashed potatoes. Though maybe the way the weather is this year, I can keep eating as much as I want, as I don't really see myself going to the beach in the rain/overcast chilliness we've been having lately.

Hello Again

Wow it's been forever. Guess I've been busy, but if I'm being really honest I've just been boring and there isn't much to write about.

I found a new favorite TV show--it's called River Monsters and it's about a biologist/angler who hunts crazy fish that may or may not be living in the lake/river in your backyard. Just sayin', they're all freshwater fish-monsters. They might even find their way into your bathtub.

My art class is going pretty well, I'm totally going to scan/post something eventually, when I draw something good enough to be seen by real people. I've been using my tablet too, and am drawing a River Monsters inspired aquatic scene. Well, actually, the thing I'm drawing is obviously in an ocean. But come on, it's all fish anyway, right?

Sarah's First Day

Today was Sarah's first day working with me! I think she thought it was boring. I thought it was boring. But it was nice having her at work. We ate girl scout cookies and she proof-read SCL stuff while I wrote handouts. =/

Maybe life will be more exciting when we start that survey.

Jersey Shore Thursday

Still so busy! But I do have some fun stuff coming up. Tomorrow I am getting a facial and a pedicure, Saturday I'm going dancing, and Sunday I'm writing articles about the Science of North Western Vertebrate Biology! And I just bought a coupon for a three-hour African cooking class that I'm going to take with my best friend Maureen! Yay!

In addition to my busy social life, work has also been crazy. As you know, I am an assistant consultant in Mill Creek, and work has been good. I got a raise last week and am moving upstairs to a new office. And, my sister is coming to work in my office. She starts on Monday. Today, I cleaned out my desk for her. I hope she likes working there. We've worked together a couple of times before, at the Events Center ticket office and at the Senior Center, and both times were good. I think it will be fun, we can carpool and have lunch together, and work out after work together. She will probably get tired of it/me in a week. But at least we will save on gas.

And now I'm watching The Jersey Shore, because it's Thursday and there is a new episode on. I know this show is terrible, but I can't look away. I watched one episode a few weekends ago and was instantly hooked. It's like heroin.

My Busy, Busy Life

You may or may not be aware of the fact that I have two jobs. One is at Communication Resources Northwest, where I am an Assistant Consultant. The second job is with SR Education group, where I work as a freelance writer.

At job #2 I write stuff like this. (I did write all of that, actually. That was the fifth website I wrote).

So anyway, two jobs, super busy. That is why I haven't updated for awhile and why you probably haven't seen me around. I am trying to make time for fun this weekend, though. I am having Dim Sum with friends on Saturday and then going to see Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog The Musical. It should be good. But I'm super busy again next week with a work-related trip to Texas and Engineering Handbook edits galore.

Not Chosen After All

I did not have jury duty after all. My group wasn't chosen the whole week. But that's okay, because it left me free to enjoy all the days off I had from work for Christmas break.

I had Friday, Monday, Tuesday and Friday off, and it was awesome. And I think I'm finally over my cold after all the wonderful rest I got. And rest was necessary after the week I had leading up to Christmas. It was busy with work and parties and last minute shopping.

I hosted a Christmas party the week before Christmas. It might have been crazy to schedule it then, but was the only time I had available. About twenty people came over (all couples but 2 people! Me and my friend Kamil!!) and there was food (delicious appetizers!) and drinks (cherry gin-gria and hot buttered spiced cider!) and I wore an amazing dress. Everyone had fun, even me, though it made me pretty exhausted and involved lots of cleanup.

And the day after my party I went to my work Christmas party where we drank tea in Bothell Country Village and then made jewelry. And then I had five days off. Merry Christmas to me!
